Are Windows Hosting Rates Killing Us Rapidly

Hi,

I Just read this blog and found it to be very informative. I do agree that
Window Hosting Companies are charging more when compared to others.

It was very sad to know that a potential C# developer moved away from Windows
Hosting to survive. It was also informative to note that since with web 2.0
trend, Blogs, Forums, CMS Etc are common and a web developer / student always
needs enough space to start with. If the rates initially are so costly, who
would prefer to go with windows hosting in long run.

I think this rates are not only killing us, the Hosting companies are killing
themselves too.

It would be nice to know, what other members are think about this.

We could discuss this from so many perspectives...

Fortunately Windows Server 2008 is embracing a "brand new Web".

Go to http://iis.net and take a look at the new features that are beyond
comparison.
I've been playing with the new Windows Server 2008 features at
http://Discountasp.net and just love them.
Have also seen some of the PHP developers coming over to test the new features
available to them. Sweet.
  Salute,
     Mark

Note: I'm with Solomon Technologies, use discountasp.net for
ASP.NET/Linq/Silverlight hosting.

You can get 1000MB of space with ASP.NET, MS SQL web hosting at $9/month.

Now think: if "a C# developer moved away from Windows Hosting to
survive", why can't he (or his clients) pay $9/month?! Is $9/month so
important to survive?! How many cups of coffee can you buy for $9? How many
cheeseburgers?

I posted a response to the blog, in which I speculated that the
"friend" might be from outside the US and his economic reality might
be that he can't recover those costs. Or that hosting may not be available to
him at that low a price. Personally, hosting is the least of my costs, and I
don't use discount hosts. Any client hosting is fully paid by the client.
