Greetings,
This means your account hasn't been verified. In order to change your display
name, you need
to click the verification e-mail sent from Windows Live ID Services.
Sometimes it can take nearly a day for the e-mail to arrive if you just signed
up. However,
assuming you haven't received it, you can request another verification e-mail
from here:
https://account.live.com/verifysi.aspx?mkt=en-us&rp=summarypage

"Type your name as you want others to see it:" is greyed out - so I
can't
type my name as I want others to see it: - they just see my stupid email

I'm actually posting for my Dad whose account has now been verified - so i
should be able to change it next time i see him - Thanks
