Ghosted Unghosted with WSS 3.0

I have upgraded a custom site from WSS 2.0 to WSS 3.0 beta2. I have also
upgraded my code from .net 1.1 to .Net 2.0. Now I have realized that WSS 3.0 is
reading all sharepoint pages (like allitems.aspx) from the database. I am unable
to find as to how I can direct Sharepoint to pick the files from the file system
and not from the database. While searching on the net I came to know about the
concept of VirtualPathProvider.. But further to that I am unable to know how to
use this in conjuction with Sharepoint? 

Just wanted to confirm one thing, once I use this option "Reset to site
definition" will it fetch the pages from the file system for a single time
or for each time thereafter? To be specific I want sharepoint to fetch always
the file system copy and not the db copy. Can you please confirm this. 

There is one more interesting thing that I noticed. My main site has few
subsites. Some were created in WSS 2.0 before upgrade and some are created after
upgraded. Interestingly those subsites which were created earlier are still
fetching their content from 60 directory whereas new subsite fetching from 12
directory. Any idea how can I totally remove dependancy of 60, and rely on 12
only.
