| WP11: Envelopes not working with network-based printers |
 |

Hi, all! Using WP11 (no service packs installed; see below) under XP/Pro
SP2 (latest patches). Config'd printers are either network-based (in
ActiveDirectory) or IP printers. WP installation is local (not a network
install); users do not have Administrative privs in the domain.
I have a user that is trying to print envelopes. When he tries to print an
envelope, the message "No envelopes are defined for this printer. Would
you
like to create one?" Selecting Yes causes a dialog to flash briefly, then
he's back to WP desktop again (nothing happens). This problem ONLY occurs
with network-based printers, either defs from printers shared and in the
Directory, or new IP printer defs. Local printers and Adobe PDF printer
works fine. I have done the following already:
1. Deleted local printer def; recreated. No effect.
2. Created IP printer def; no effect.
3. Uninstalled WP11; deleted WordPerfect folder in Application Data;
reinstalled WP11; no effect
4. Deleted printer def on server (\\lscrn-fileapp1) and recreated; no
effect.
5. Created new printer def for new server-based def; no effect
6. Gave user local administrator privileges; no effect
7. Granted user full privs to WordPerfect and WordPerfect Office registry
keys; no effect.
The original installation was Service Pack #2 level; the current
installation is stock (pre-SP1). Any help would be appreciated. It seems
most of the problems I have with WP11 are because of printer issues...
Thanks,
Jack

Do Format, Page, Page Setup. At the top does it say "Standard Page
Types"
or "Printer Page Types"?
If there are no envelope definitions listed, try clicking Restore. Did
they come back?
Try the other ... i.e. Printer rather than Standard or vice versa. Are
there envelope definitions there?
If not, try Restore on that setting.

Thanks for responding. There's both a "Standard Page Type" and
"Printer
Page Type" selections on that dialog, and both have the #10 envelope.
Clicking Restore on either did nothing.

Well, documents print just fine to these networked printers, so I don't
think is an issue. And yes, I just did so, and it had no effect on the
reported problem. Thanks for responding! :)

Jack,
Have you tried adding a shortcut to PrintServer110.exe to the users
startup folder? This primes the printing process and could resolve your
problem.
