| wpd documents all scrambled |

For the last two weeks, documents that I was previously able to open appear
all scrambled. Looking at the codes, there is a soft return after nearly
each letter so that a 2 page document is nearly 9000 pages long. It doesn't
happen to all documents - these were written with WP 12 - but I was able to
open them 2 weeks ago and can still open them on another PC with WP11. I'm
on XP pro SP2. The document in question are landscape letter, but divided
into 3 columns. It seems like it must be some setting that is off. The only
change I made recently was add a new Ricoh laser printer. I tried switching
default printer drivers so something that worked beore, but no luck. I also
tried a repair as well as an uninstall and clean and reinstall.
Any insights appreciated!
TIA
Michael

Michael,
I have seen this happen once with a specific font that does not seem to
work with WP11 (I don't recall which one). So my question: What happens
if you change the font in these documents?

You were right. A font by Bayer that was installed with a Agfa font manager
that came with the printer was the culprit. It was called Univers. When I
removed it, WP used Arial instead and it all worked out. I wish programmes
would always tell you when they install fonts. The font file just becomes so
crowded!
Thanks

Michael,
Glad it helped. I have the Univers font too, but in the version supplied
with HP printers. This works OK with WP.
