WP11 & Vista ?

WP11 & Vista ?
Sun, 27 Jan 2008 13:55:40 -060

We're shopping for a new computer and it's hard to find anything that
doesn't come with Vista. Is WP11 compatible or will I have to upgrade?
Thanks.

I believe you can still get Dells with XP, which many people much prefer
over Vista.

Hi, Tim!

college. It has Vista. Man what a dog. Like a rebirth of ME. :-(

WinVista has proven to resemble WinME in many respects, and there are people
that are waiting for the release of WinVista/SP1. There are other people,
however, that have purchased new PCs with WinVista Business or WinVista
Ultimate
preinstalled on them (users of WinVista Basic and WinVista Premium must have
upgraded the OS on their PCs to either WinVista Business or WinVista Ultimate),
who are requesting/demanding downgrade CDs to WinXP Pro, for which Microsoft
must support until April 2014, if WinXP Pro/SP3 is released on time in April
2008.

Returning to the question asked by the OP ("news") --

Is WP11 compatible [with WinVista] or will I have to upgrade?
end

-- Corel doesn't support WP11 under WinVista; only X3, but you may request the
WinXP Pro OS be installed on most PCs that normally come with the WinVista OS
preinstalled on them, and you should inquire before buying a new PC whether
your
OEM is providing CDs to its customers that will downgrade the OS to WinVista if
they should come preinstalled with WinVista.

Peace

"Like a rebirth of ME." Very apt description.

Yes, you can get Dells and some other computers with XP. Custom system
builders will probably offer XP, and even encourage it.

The OP on this thread was a question about running WP11 on Vista. There
have been quite a few posts on that subject here, and the non conclusion
is that some people have no problems, and others have many. If you try
it, be sure that you update to the latest service pack for WP11. The
official answer from Corel is that they only support WPX3 on Vista, and
there are currently no plans to assure operation of any older WP
versions on Vista. If you do decide to upgrade, the Student and Teacher
version is an excellent choice, as it is a full function build, not the
cut down product that is in Home and some OEM products.
