| default email program |

Using WP 12 (12.0.0.602), under Win XP Pro , I'm trying to get it to
use my default email program (Forte Agent) when I click on File>Send
to> mail or mail recipient. It does nothing in response. I've set
Agent as the default email program in Control Panel>Internet
Options>Programs, and in Start>Program Access and Defaults.
Is there a way to get WP to recognize this email program?
TIA

Roy... thanks for the help. I do have the Format words as hyperlinks
checked in Tools|QuickCorrect|Speed Links. If I create an email
address in a document and hit Space, a hyperlink Is created. Clicking
on it does activate my email program appropriately. If I move the
cursor into the email address and do Tools|Hyperlink, there is no
option to Activate hyperlinks.
It was my understanding that if a document is created, and File|SendTo
is clicked, there should be a listing of the default email app in the
menu that appears, but this is not the case in my situation. Clicking
on SendTo or Mail under the File menu does not bring up the default
email app. Nothing happens, and I am unable to send the docum
ment by email from within WP.

In WP, see that in Tools|QuickCorrect|SpeedLinks
[x]Format words as hyperlinks...
is checked.
Type: mailto:anemail@somewhere<space>
A hyperlink is created.
Move the cursor into the text area.
Tools|Hyperlink
see that [x]Activate hyperlinks
is checked. [OK]
When I click (or double-click) that link, my email app Eudora opens,
as long as I have its MAPI options enabled.
If your system does not react similarly to the link, then WP12 will
not be able to Send To email.

Thanks Rex. After looking into this, if I change my email program to
use MAPI, all sorts of windows and procedures are changed. Not worth
it to send an occasional document from WP. I'll just have to save such
documents and send them as an attachment using Forte Agent program
under POP-3.
Thanks for the help

Herbert,
Have you setup Agent to use MAPI? This requires (at a minimum) using
the TOOLS menu, select OPTIONS, then select Posting Messages. The last
option is Posting With MAPI where you have to tick the box "Use my
default email program ......"
Further information can be found in the HELP menu; select Index and
then enter MAPI in the search box.
As I don't use MAPI I cannot offer any opinion as to its usefulness or
functionality.
Good luck,
Rex
