My wife is planning to get a new laptop an dump the old one. She needs
Wordperfect and QP installed. We have Wordperfect 12 already.
Can WP12 work well under Vista?
Thanks

Thanks!!
Too bad about your experience with Vista in general. I don't like
Vista, but all new s/w is now compatible with Vista. I dunno, perhaps I
can find XP drivers for my wife's laptop and I'll install XP.
FWIW. I did notice corruption occurs sometimes for no reason on my XP
machine too. As a rule of thumb, I *should* reformat and reinstall
every year. I suspect that Microsoft updates somehow may contribute to
corruption.

That's one way to keep your system clean and quick, but there is an
easier and faster way. Get a disk imaging program (I use Acronis
TrueImage, and have for several years -
http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/) and simply install it as the
first thing to do with a new computer (TrueImage works with Vista, too).
Then immediately make an image of your boot drive to a CD/DVD, or an
external drive or partition. Then you can (1) backup your data and (2)
roll the /entire/ system back to the day you did all that, and (3)
restore your backed up data.
All this can be done in just a few minutes ... no need to reformat or
reinstall anything, since the boot drive partition is deleted and then
completely restored from the image whenever you want to go back to "Day
One".
I also image my boot drive before installing /any/ new program, storing
the sequential images on another drive. This has saved me countless
hours when I found the program did not suit my needs or was otherwise
undesirable. (I retain the original images along with the last few
images, and periodically delete the rest to save space.)
Speaking of backups ... see also my web page about making automatic
backups of saved files: http://wptoolbox.com/tips/AutoBAK.html. It can
help you avoid losing work to file corruption. For file repair, see
http://wptoolbox.com/tips/RepairDocs.html.

I have a Vista Home Premium laptop (Toshiba) ready to roll and will
start loading my software including WP 12.
I had some mishaps happening when installing Vista, because somebody
sold me an upgrade to Business which can't be installed on top of Home
Premium. So I lost all my drivers etc. This to tell you that the Toshiba
website has all the drivers available. You can also check if you can get
XP disks for your Notebook.
