Error Loading files at start up.

Error Loading files at start up.
Mon, 7 Apr 2008 16:26:02 -0500
Hi,

Background: Win2000 Pro workstation with all SP's/updates installed.
WP 12 with SP's installed.

When my client tries to start the program the following error message comes
up. "Error loading following files required to start the application:
MSVCP60.dll. Do you want to fix the problem right now? Y or N

When you click the yes button, nothing happens. I have done the following:
Changed/reinstalled the printers; repaired the installation from the Control
Panel; completely uninstalled and reinstalled WP 12. Also, just for grins I
tried to run SP 1 and it said that this product is not installed and quit.
I found a reference to this in the Corel KB and it does not make sense to me
what they say to do.

Has anyone else seen this before or any ideas how to fix?
Thanks,

Mike,

What is the problem with the Knowledge Base article? The article I
found stated:
"Copying the file MSVCP60.DLL from the WordPerfect Office 2000 CD-ROM to
the local hard drive in C:\Windows\System allow you to open files."

The reference above is to WPO2000, but you could certainly try the same
steps for WPWin12.

Hi Charles,

I did do a search yesterday on the clients machine and the file is in the
system directory I believe. It is not just we can't open files, the program
just does not start. And, I should have mentioned it yesterday QPW does not
start either. It gives some kind of C++ error message (I didn't write that
one down). At the Corel KB site I selected the Product WP Office then sub
product WP12. The search text was "error loading following files required
to start the application". The top article that came back was Answer ID
758845. It gave solutions for versions 10-12. The part for version 12
reads as follows (actually the text is the same for 10 & 11 also).

If you have WordPerfect 12:

Double click on the My Computer Icon on your desktop

Double click on Local Drive C
Double click on "Program Files"
Right-click on "WordPerfect Office 12"
Delete the "WordPerfect Office 12" folder (if you get the error
Cannot
delete.. Right-click on the folder and rename to WordPerfect old)
Insert your CD number 1 into the cd ROM drive
Close the Install Wizard when it launches
Launch WordPerfect

It just seems to me that something is missing. Maybe the something missing
is with me. Launch WP? I did not see a way to do it from the CD. I did
run the WP setup, but that did not fix the problem.

Thanks for your response.

Two solutions I see posted for (possibly) that errmsg:

1:
>From Jennifer Sherie Case:
Hello, Get the file that you need it's called MDAC_TYP from
Microsoft, it's a C++ Runtime and SQL Database fixer. Then
restart and this will go away.

2:
>From Jason Kam
To resolve this issue, remove the windows default printer and
reinstall it.
I know it sounds odd, but it works.

Later, Alvin reported:
The MDAC_TYP did not seem to help, but replacing the printer did
it.
