Can't get pass the request for Password

Can't get pass the request for Password
Fri, 2 Mar 2007 11:04:47 -0600
I have made numerous attempts to get into WPMail but with no luck. Apparently
the program installs just fine, but when I attempt to open the program it looks
like it will open just fine until I get the dialogue box in the attachment.

When this comes up and I click to put in the Password it locks up and almost
shuts down my computer.

Any ideas how I can get past this so I can use the program?

Hi Bro James --

I needed to do a little research, but this is one of my thoughts...

sbcglobal.net in particular can be a little tricky. I ahven't set that up
in my WPMail, but i have access to an account so might be able to et it
doped out.

are you on sbcglobal.net or sbc Yahoo. that makes a difference in your
settings.

This is one thought, to start, though

When you are challenged with the password, choose 'cancel'

Go to your account settings, and look at the type of authorization needed.
If "secure (or SSL, or whatever it's labeled, I am not at WPMail right now

-- sorry!) is checked, uncheck it. that is a good start.

Also, let me know what your pop server name is in your setup. That might
be the problem. WPMail generates an error log that ought to let you know
where it is hanging up. I think it is in the WPMail directory, but it
might be located in your mail store.

I'll be watching the ng for your answers to get you up and going as soon
as we can.

Cheers,

Pix

Thanks Pix, for your response,

I am on sbcglobal.net, or at least that is the server for my main email
address.

Makes no difference what I attempt to select in the box, nothing works. The
program locks up.

When you say "account settings," I am assuming you are referring to
Tools >
Accounts in Outlook Express. If so, the boxes calling for secure (SSL) are
NOT checked.

The pop server is pop.sbcglobal.yahoo.com

I checked the file WordPerfect-MAIL-2.0.4-log-errors.txt.0 and it appears
the two following messages repeat themselves each time I attempted to run
the program:

2007-03-02 10:37:15 st.ata.mc.applimpl.DocumentStoreImpl.getConfig @main --
WARNING: Could not get the configuration file, calendars
2007-03-02 10:37:15 st.ata.mc.applimpl.DocumentStoreImpl.getConfig @main --
WARNING: Could not get the configuration file, addressbooks

Thanks again for responding and hopefully helping me get WPMail up and
running.

Not a problem I am happy to help out. I have spent a lot of time in the

Has it ever opened successfully?

In WPMail it should be in Configure/accounts and aliases, but it doesn't
seem that you get that far. If you select 'cancel' will WPMail open or
does it still just sit there forever?

Some other thoughts. Do you have a default printer installed. In the WP
Pantheon, somehow a lack of an installed printer that is physically
present seems to choke every WP app in Christendom. I am not sure exactly
why things are programmed that way, but I am no programmer. Be sure that
the default printer for your system is installed and is present. That can
cause the behavior that you are seeing.

That ought to be OK, if only it is set in WPMail! Are you trying to
import Outlook settings? I wonder if that might be causing a part of the
problem.

I had that issue without a default printer installed and connected, but
also before reindexing my file, so, I would recommend running this
reindexing command if the default printer thing doesn't work out.

You can, if you want, create a shortcut on the desktop, with the following
as the comand line (I would cut and paste it, since I know it works. It
does, of course, all have to be on one line, so watch for the breaks your
newsreader may have inserted.) The 'open in directory is "C:\Program
Files\WordPerfect Mail\Programs\bin\" again, with the quotes.

Here is the command:

"C:\Program Files\WordPerfect Mail\Programs\bin\WPMail.exe"
-r"C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Application Data\Corel\WordPerfect
Mail"

You need all the quotes, and you might need to replace 'Owner' with the
name of your Mailstore directory This does assume a standard install of
the program.

This command will reindex your mailstore and may solve the problem.

If you are comfortable, you can also run this from the start/run section
of the start menu. Again, just paste it in place with the quotes intact.

Try these things, then we will move on if needed.

Not a problem at all -- if only Corel gave free stuff to all the peer
support. Even if they did, I would still be waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay down the
line of people who are great at helping out in this area. Also check
www.wpuniverse.com it's a great resource

Thanks again, Pix, sorry to be so long in writing back and thank you for
your help.

The program has never opened beyond the request for a password. I can see
the program page behind the dialog and the calendar on the side, but I have
never been able to look at anything in the program.

I am not able to select Cancel in the dialog. When it comes up at the time
the program starts to open I can do nothing, zip, nada. The only thing that
happens is I get the (Not Responding) in the blue bar at top.

I do not have a printer "physically" connected to my computer, the
connection is made wireless. I do have an HP Deskjet default printer set up
and I have no problem with any other WP program (10, X3 Trial, Lightning,
etc.). They all work just fine.

I created a shortcut on my desktop to run the re-indexing feature and it
appeared to do its thing, but nothing has changed since running it.

Thanks again for your patience and help. I do hope we can get this to work,
I only have 22 more days for my trial. Oh, could that be a part of the
problem? I am running a trial version, but I am not sure I want to buy the
program if I can't see how it is going to work.

Anyway, thanks for your help. I look forward to any other ideas you may
have,

BroJames
