Unable to start WPMail on Vista

I just upgraded my machine to Vista and now WPMail fails to open. I see  
WPMail.exe in the task manager appearing and then disappearing immedately.

Looking at the logs, I see a Java exception that it could not find  
wpmail.properties. Aside from that, there are no other errors being  
reported.

I tried the steps in the FAQ to rename my datastore directory, renaming  
the index files. I tried running the application as an administrator.  
Nothing helped.

Does anyone have any idea as to what the problem could be.
