EMail Lists

EMail Lists
Sat, 7 Apr 2007 08:54:51 -0500
1. I wish to set up a Smart Group for a listserv based EMail list I am on.
How do I do this. The subject header has a fixed text of "[test...]"
in it.

2. How do I set up WordPerfect Mail so that it reads this newsgroup rather
than Outlook. (Might as well go all the way I say.)

Thanks.

Configure/Smart Groups

Choose to make a new smart group based on a mailing list

Create a search that will identify the listserv messages -- I have about
five or six of these - I have found that in some cases the sender is the
best search spec, and in others it's the Subject header. Do not select
any of the category, status boxes. That limits your search to only those
messages with that flag.

Complete your messages cycle preferences and that ought to do it.

Now, if you want to add old messages, this is a little easier. Set up a
search from the main screen (or alternatively click on the magnifying
glass next to the "From" in a listserv message)

Drag them to the SmartGroup that you created.

Keep in mind that most of these messages, perhaps all, will remain in the
'Filed" folder, or some subfolder that you create. The things in the left

pane are more appropriately views, or tags associated with the messages
for the most part. Some Smart Groups may be the exception, but I am
really kind of lazy and don't want to poke around the directory at this
moment. If it really matteres to anyone, let me know and I will look ;)

As it stands, you can't at this moment. If these groups were opened up in
Google Groups, it would be a simple matter to set it up. For any groups
you may read that are in Google groups, though, you can at least subscribe
to the digest, get the messages, and possible reply, though the ones that
I use are via Yahoo, so I haven't tested that.

Cheers,

Pix
