This annoyance has bothered me for several versions for WP.
When opening a new file, the size of the file name column will not stay set
at the previously used setting - but rather reverts to a relatively narrow
column. You can right click on the column heading bar and set "Size all
columns to fit" or drag it wider - but otherwise the filename column is
just
too narrow to be useful most of the time.
I would think there is a registry setting for this to set the width -
because this is just an unnecessary annoyance as it is. Does anyone know
what it is / or if there is one a registry setting - or a way to save the
window column header width?
Thanks!

David,
Please try this: set up your File Open display as you wish it; hold down
the left CTRL key, and mouse-click on the [x] at top right to close the
File Open dialog.

Only in the same way that X3 does.
You might try following Charles's instructions, but using Windows Explorer,
with WP closed.
That is the only setting in which I have seen the idea proposed. If Charles
says it should work within WP, then so it should (and so one would expect) but
if that is not working for you then the more basic approach is worth a try.
Here's a routine with an extra step that apparently helped:

Thanks, Charles, but unfortunately it didn't work.

I tried several other similar things - and they didn't work either.
I did a cursory look through the registry - but didn't find anything either.
Am I correct, in that some earlier versions, maybe WP9 and before, kept his
layout info?
