Thanks for the tip.  Also note: according to Corel you can "Install 
Corel WordPerfect Office X3 - Student & Teacher Edition on up to three 
computers in your home at no additional cost!"  Good deal for ~ $40 net.

Staples is selling the Student and Teacher WP Office X3 this week with a 
   $50 rebate.

I bought a copy and installed it under CrossOver Office 4.2.  The 
installation was smoother than in Windows.

The previously noted caveats apply:  install the bundled Internet 
Explorer first, and disable the intelligent file management.

I opened an old .wpd file and printed it without any problem.

As previously noted, WP X3 under X-Over does not save in any other file 
format.  I also noted that a file created by WP X3/X-Over opened 
normally in WP 8.x, but not in Star Office 8, which has a WP import filter.

Quattro Pro X3 does not run at all.  The Presentations app starts, but I 
have not stress tested it yet.

I could not install the bundled version of Paradox; the "agree to 
license" button is grayed out and does not function, so the installer 
aborts at that point.

I'd like to hear from users of the most recent Cross Over Office with 
this WP X3 version.  My test platform is an older Xandros, and I'm now 
interested in getting CrossOver for other instrallations.

You are welcome.  The rebate is good through May 5, so I assume the 
offer will extend another week.

Might be worth a try in CrossOver 6.  It handles some other software 
that I have wanted for a while, but which earlier versions would not do. 
  I need to buy a copy, but have too many other projects on the go at 
the moment.  One of them is giving Kubuntu 6.06 a try.
