WP 8.1 on Ubuntu 7.04 (Fiesty Fawn) - WooHoo!

After reading various posts in this newsgroup, especially by Leon
Goldstein, I got WP8.1 working under Feisty Fawn (XUbuntu 7.04).

>From memory:

I installed the following packages.
groff_1.18.1.1-11_i386.deb
libxaw6_2%3a1.0.1-0ubuntu3_i386.deb
ldso_1.9.11-15_i386.deb
type1inst_0.6.1-4_all.deb
libc5_5.4.46-15_i386.deb

Note, the above are not listed in their install order. I don't recall
where I got them - they are saved files from a previous install.

The following packages are from an old Libranet 3 disc:
libxaw6_7.0.2-3_i386.deb
xlibs_6.8.2-77_all.deb
xlib6g_4.3_all.deb

Note, it's possible that these packages need not be installed by using
"equivs". I wrote a how-to that worked under Kanotix. :

a&rnum=4#c19d283def7971ce
I don't know if it works under the current Ubuntu.

Then I installed WP8. Running xwp I go the good ol': "Segmentation fault
(core dumped)"

I edited
/etc/ld.so.conf to place
"/usr/lib/wp8/wpbin" in front of the libc5 entry.
I then ran "sudo ldconfig".
Made no difference - error the same.

I them symlinked
/usr/share/X11/locale
to /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/locale

xwp now works!!!!
