OT WordStar in console mode

OT WordStar in console mode
Thu, 27 Dec 2007 11:41:59 -080
Hello,

Perhaps some help here, although clearly off topic. Running WordStar on
DOSEMU on teh console. Using IBM charset everything looks OK, except no
cursor. Works fine using XDOSEMU but full screen on teh console is
easier on the eyes actually, then a little 640x480 box in X.

Any thoughts?

My WP5.1 disk set is located at my old office, so don't know yet if it
has the same issue.

Thanks

In case anyone is interested, solved this problem by using monitor
setting in WS for "PC-ROM or compatible" instead of VGA.

Noted. I'm setting up a new system and plan to experiment with DOSEMU
and some old DOS apps I have, among them WordStar too.

Are you able to print?

I haven't tried to on this particular machine (Laptop running Xandros 3)
I had no problems at all printing on a different machine that ran
Caldera 2.4, using a generic postcript printer driver in WordStar (I
think I used the Apple LaserWriter)

I will look at the config file for that machine and post back here....

Although you can print to postscript file too, just adds an additional
step. I set up my old firm to do that so they could convert their
wordstar files into PDF files.

A man after my own heart. I really liked Caldera 2.4. I still have a
copy on a multi-boot system. When I got a HP 1200 laser I couldn't find
a printer driver for it, but Caldera 2.4.'s WebMin set up a printer that
works.
