Don:
IIRC, this is just a subset of OOo built almost entirely on OOo code.
OOo itself DOES have a WP import filter at least. I see no real reason
for being in Symphony.

I haven't looked hard at this. How do the import filters work? (In word
it is just a separate file you put in a directory somewhere.) I wouldn't
mind giving this a try, to see if it runs a little smoother than OOo.

I don't know. It came that way. Leon may know more about it.

By all means, let us know. However, seems most people have been
underwhelmed by it so far.

As far as I can tell, the import filter parses the format codes, which
are evident when you use "reveal codes."
From what little use I've made of it, the Star Office 8 filter can
handle a general document OK, but will get confused by more elaborate
formatting, e.g. columns and imbedded graphics. One way to help the
import filter is to install the T1 fonts where they are available to the
system and not just WP.
