I've created web application which is associated with users pushes a
desktop icon. This used to work just fine, then recently instead of
opening IE clicking on the desktop icon opens notepad.
Manually created shortcuts to URLs open fine.
I looked at file associations for URLs and none of them are set to
notepad.
Any ideas?

You must have type of File Association issue going on.
The easiest thing to do may be to set your app to just run
"IEXPLORE.EXE"
and then pass the website as a parameter.
That way you are not depending on any default Windows settings.

Ok. That's a good work around. Seems to work fine for my users. Why
didn't I think of that?

Well, I had an advantage.
I needed to do that long before there was a "Web App" type in
ZENworks.
