I have a new computer. The installation of the software was done by the state
IT dept. I noticed that now when I open Dbase plus 2.6 on my new machine, the
menu bar at the top is gray, but the words on the menu are highlighted in white.
When I click on a menu option, it looks like it is a button and that whole part
of the menu changes to white. It looks strange. I have the same operating
system (XP) on my new machine as I did on the old machine.
Is this some type of configuration setting that was set differently in the old
machine than in the new?
Thanks.

Linda,
That sounds like the XP Windows Theme is being applied to your PC. That
is the latest "thing". It is caused by the same manifest file that
satisfies the security requirements of the update-to-date XP and the
Vista. If you find it aggrevating, there is a portion of the manifest
you can remove that leaves the security intact but returns the display
to the classic display.

I wondered if it was something like that. I guess I will make sure I am using
the same manifest file as on my old machine.
Speaking of the manifest files and vista, I was able to use one of the vista
manifest files and have my compiled system that I wrote run on a vista machine.
So will I have to have 2 separate installation files for people to install my
system, one for vista and one for xp or if I set it up using the vista manifest
files so it will run on vista will it also work on XP.
Thanks.

Linda,
The same manifest file works on XP and Vista so you only need one
version.
