Well, look at the wording of the error. Is this one programmed into your
application? If so, what causes it?
Take a look at the path structure for your application.
A 5.7 application is not necessarily going to run 100% straight-up in
2.6 without some modifications ... most of the code will work, but for
example, some of the old dBASE custom classes got renamed because of
conflicts with new stock classes ...

After a number of years of inactivity in programming, I have
come back to dBase. And I have a question:
I have installed dBase 2.6.0 on my win2K machine, and moved
a directory with a program I developed early in the century
in dbase 5.7 into the Plus directory. This program worked
well in 5.7, including distribution by inno, but now will
not open in 2.6.0. Stops right at opening with a "Failed to
create Tables Directory" Yes I recompiled in 2.6.0. My
thought is this sounds like a conflict problem, rather than
a coding problem.
Anyone have any insights or suggestions as to what I might
do to get things going?

To the best of my knowledge there is no such animal. The only one that
immediately comes to mind is the file Buttons.cc in 5.7 (I think that's
the name -- been awhile), there's one button in that file that has a
problem with a stock class in dBASE.

This will blow your mind. The error was in my start Program
(Misicstart.prg) in line 22. What bothers me is that there
are only about 15 line in that .prg.

Ken,
Right. Path structure does sound like a reason to fail to
create a directory. I will check.
Regards conflicts with new stock classes, can you point me
to any kind of cross reference that might show me where
changes to or new classes might occur?
