May I ask what the relationship is between ODBC drivers and the drivers needed
for BDE . and which specific drivers are needed to run dos5 dbase and plus 2.6.
Also does one have to set up two dbase drivers with different settings for one
datasource/database.

John,
You do NOT need ODBC driver for reading dBASE tables of any level. dBASE
has its own native drivers for that. dBASE can read all types of dBASE
tables without you doing ANYTHING. It is only when you want to create a
table that is at an older level that you have to make any effort (and it
is not much).
