Try creating a volume label on the CD the same as on the disks.

1) Take the floppy drive you used to copy the disks to CD and install it in
the computer you want to install dBASE on.

2) Buy a floppy drive off of eBay.

3) Copy all the floppy disks to the HD in folders named the same as the
volume label on the floppy, then copy this folder structure to CD, then copy
it to the machine you want to install dBASE on and try and install form the
HD (I've used this with dBXL).

If you have an existing installation on another machine, simply copy the entire

directory to your new machine and you should be in business.

Note that when installing dBASE IV you select a code page (usually 437 or 850)
and this may not match your new machine. If need be, do a fresh install on an
old machine with the desired code page, and then copy over to the new machine.

Hint - Keep the resulting installs on CD or a backed up file server for future
use.
