Printer not Ready

Hi, I'm using Dbase III Plus, and I just upgraded from Windows 98 to Windows XP.


I copied the program successfully to the new computer, however when i tried to
print off of a USB printer (in the past I had used an older printer cable
printer) it said 'printer not ready'. In response to this I attmpted to set up
printer pooling, and tried to trick the program into thinking i had my old
printer, needless to say, that was an abysmal failure.

Now I bought a parallel port card (the new computer didn't have one) and
successful installed it, along with the old printer, so that the computer can
recognize it. Dbase still however, claims 'printer not ready'. I'm at a loss for
what to do now. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
