The same database driver is used for both Text Data sources and for HTML
data sources.
When you install the Text Data Source database driver, the Setup program
writes a set of default values to the Microsoft® Windows® Registry in the
Engines and ISAM Formats subkeys. ... The following sections describe
initialization and ISAM Format settings for the Text Data Source database
driver.

The context here is MS Access. The article contains some interesting
information about
- HTML Import ISAM Formats
- HTML Export ISAM Formats
- Customizing the Schema.ini File for Text and HTML Data
I don't know if these features could be used from dBASE.

Roland,
I have not read the link, but I tried the following.
In the ODBC Administrator, Tab System DSN, I selected my existing alias MStxt
for the MS text
driver. Then pressed button 'Configure', removed checkmark in box 'Use current
folder', pressed
button 'Settings', removed checkmark in box 'Standard', Typed 'htm' (no quotes)
in field
'Filetypename', pressed 'OK' twice.
I can now see in the Navigator many files, some with extension txt and some with
extension htm and
some without extensions (they are folders). Clicking on a htm file, results in
error,
Database Engine Error: Invalid table name.
However if the htm file is renamed to a name containing a space, it is possible
to open the file.
The result was rather disappointing. Opening the table in a browse window showed
that each record
contained a single line of code from the htm file.
It would be interesting to know how this feature could be used.

Thanks for the info. I guess that would have been to easy...

I agree. Maybe someone will take the time to explore how it works or how it
is supposed to work. For me importing and exporting text files is more
important.
Right now I don't have much time so I switch back to lurk mode. ;-)
