How much RAM do you have on your computer? Can you upgrade it to more?
How much free disk space on the harddrive do you have?

Windows 98 is a 16-bit architecture at its core, so pure 32-bit apps
like dBase 2.6 have to go through a "thunking" layer to translate the
32-bit calls to 16-bit ones.

128 MEGABYTES? Upgrade your machine! You need more memory ... lots more.
2 GB of Ram is good ... more is even better.

You're kidding me, right? Win 98 should benefit from more RAM like all
other OSes ... (of course, it's been some time since I've worked with it).
