| Connect dBASE PLUS to SQL Server |
 |
Wed, 9 Jan 2008 15:28:45 -0000 |
I have dB+ 2.21 b1755, BDE 5.01, SQL Server 2005 and Studio Express.
I have created a database with a table in it using Studio Express
I have created an alias in BDE pointing to the database using SQL Native
Driver
From dB+ I can see the database but when I try to connect to it dB+ asks for
a username and password. How do I set that up?
Thanks

Hm... tried the empty one, plus a variety of things I might have used but
don't ever remember setting one. Is it possible to reset it with Studio
Express? I've looked but not seen anywhere to do it.
Actually it strikes me that I might be trying to solve the wrong problem.
The message is "Database engine error: Invalid configuration
parameter"
which I assumed meant I'd got the password wrong. Maybe this relates to the
other error I get as dB+ loads
"Error: File does not exist: C:\...\desktop\(SICI)1097-0215(19970516)71
4(600 AID-IJC15)3.0.CO"
although straight after that ? dmessage() yields "Successful
completion".
You can tell I'm a bit at sea with this.
Thanks for your help.

The database administrator in MS-speak has the name "sa".
Versions prior to 2005 allowed an empty password, but if I remember
correctly, this is not allowed anymore??
So, you need to get the password from the person who installed the
server on your machine. If it was you, and you can't remember any

I guess something went wrong when you setup the driver.
See the document I posted in dbase.binaries, subject "Configuring ODBC DSN
for SQL Server" (14. November 2007 23:05).
