Hi friends,
Is it possible to use Firebird 2.1 with dBASE?, Has anyone tested these
together? (Firebird 2.1, dBASE PLUS & the IBPhoenix open source ODBC
driver)

Jaime,
2.1 is still in beta. In theory it should work, but I wouldn't recommend
making decisions based on that.

Jaime,
If you do end up doing some tests, let us know how they turn out.
Enjoy your weekend!

I have been reading in the Firebird-Support lists, that you better NOT
use 1.5 clients with 2.1 servers.
2.1 clients can access 1.5 servers easily, but not the other way round.
That _IS_ the point.
Vladimir Tsvigun, who did major part of the development of the ODBC
driver, is not a member of the team any longer. I don't know what
happened, maybe he finished his studies and acquired a real job... whatever.
But he was the one who made some extra changes in the ODBC driver, so it
would still work with BDE. Problem is that BDE is using some outdated
form of ODBC specification, which is marked "deprecated" for more than
8
years now.
Not all new ODBC drivers are still downward compatible, and I don't know
whether the "new" developers of the ODBC drivers did take care to
