Upgrade disappointment

Upgrade disappointment
Mon, 31 Mar 2008 13:28:13 -050
With all the hype about the latest version 2.6.1.4 upgrade I have bitten the
bullet and spent my money. Done the download and installed it over my old
version 2.6.0.

Compiled a suite of programs I was part way through buildings and tried to run
it from PE. The program suite is based upon framewin style and using the old
program would crash with a MAV error when run from the PE. Running it from the
Navigator window gave no errors and ran using DEO without problems. Now running
it from PE gives the following error :

Error: UDF or PROCEDURE not found: C:\Program
Files\dBASE\PLUS\bin\dBLCore\ProjExp\pBuilderProp.wfm

The file listed - wfo version is in the full path as listed in the error message
....

Press Cancel up comes another error:

Error: Class does not exist: PBUILDERTBAR::PBUILDERTBAR

Press Cancel again - another message :

Error: Memory Access Violation.

Press Cancel again - error message box disappears and sitting back in PE.

That's problem #1

We needed forms with coloured notebooks ( don't ask why ). So, open a form, add
notebook, switch XP theme to false, colornormal to "Teal". So far so
good. Buttons to true and watch your notebook zoom of the form. Left.value goes
negative - try changing it and watch the top.value change

Thats problem # 2

So far I have spent longer writing this than getting pleasure from my new dBase
Plus 2.6.1.4.

Does anyone know a quick way to uninstal the upgrade and get a refund?

I'm sure that if you post some turn key examples, dbi will give it the
attention it needs to get you working again. I dare to say, but in the past
with new builds I had new errors, and I thought they were dbase issues, but
after getting deeper into it they were mine, the new build just brought them
to light.

It will work out.

Ok. Emotion aside. Have slept on it. Come in to work and done the same upgrade
on office PC. Identical results - something weird going on. Both machiones using
XP Pro + SP2.

Hit another problem as copy of original dBase Plus is not where I thought it was
- should have checked first - so cannot re - install yet.

Would appreciate any help.

How exactly are you running your program from the Project Explorer?
Which menu option are you choosing?
Which file is selected in the treeview, if any?
Is the selected file the main "startup" program for your
project?

The errors after this point are due to the first error listed above...

I have reproduced this behavior. It appears to be a regression - possibly
due to some fixes made to the notebook to support the systemTheme property.

We will research this further ASAP.

This has been entered as QAID: 6405.

A fix has already been identified for this issue and will be incorporated in
the next build.
