| Insufficient Shared Memory |

A client just reinstalled the operating system (I haven't been told if the
new installation is an upgrade, e.g. from XP to Vista, but it might be), has
then reinstalled the runtime files and come up with a database
initialization error 'insufficient shared memory' when starting the
application.
Is there anything I can suggest (change to BDE configuration?) apart from
buying more memory?
I'd be grateful for suggestions.

Mike,
You can set your BDE values such as MAXBUFSIZE, MEMSIZE, MINBUFSIZE,
SHAREDMEMSIZE to their maximum allowed values. They are found in the BDE
Administrator under Configuration|System|Init

Mike,
Good luck. Let us know how it works out.

This is has been a long-distance support exercise (an installation in East
Africa) so I have not had the chance to look at the problem at close
quarters.
It now emerges that in sorting out the operating system, the application
folder's name was changed. Hence, presumably, the 'database initialization
error'.
It appears, therefore, that the 'insufficient shared memory' message was
irrelevant. As no other installation of this application has had a problem
with shared memory, this seems likely.
However, I have learned something!
