Publisher count not be verified

Publisher count not be verified
Wed, 16 Apr 2008 21:11:23 -040
Hello all,

I develop dBase on an XP Pro machine and I have a deployment on a server using
Windows 2003. When I run my executable on my machine, it runs fine. However,
when I run the executable on the client's Windows 2003 server, I get the
message

The publisher could not be verified. Are you sure you want to run this
application? ...

If the user answers Yes, the application runs without a hitch. Still...the above
dialog message from Windows 2003 is annoying, and it makes my application look
"incompatible" or "flawed." Is there anything I can do so
that the above message does not show?

Thanks.

G Picache,

That is a Windows security feature. The latest version of dBASE PLUS
2.6.1.4 lets you sign your code with a digital signature (it's called
"code signing") and this will make your server happy. You will need
the
latest dB+ as well as you will need to purchase a digital signature.
Marty Kay describes this in the following message:

Alternatively, if you run the 2.6.1.4 runtime and pass your program as a
parameter, this will also be fine since the runtimes are now coded
signed by dBI.

Of course, you can also turn off the security option, but that's not a
good idea. <g>

Hello Geoff,

Thanks for the help. Fortunately, I just downloaded ver 2.61.4

Can't wait to try it.

Thanks again.
G Picache
