Hi, we use for ours programs a little exes and binary files, now we use
dBase 2.5, if we pass to deployed in 2.61.4 is recommendable we build
exes again for the new version?

No. You don't have to recompile your EXEs. As long as the runtimes bears
the same name (PLUSRun.exe), all the new versions of dBASE will be
compatible with your old EXEs.

It is true back to dB2K. Since then, all the runtime were called
PLUSRun.exe.

When one runs a dBASE .EXE, the first thing it does is to call its
runtime. All the dBASE .EXE created _after_ dB2K (in other words,
created with a version of dBASE PLUS) call PLUSRun.exe. That runtime is
_always_ backward compatible with all the .EXE created with an older
version of dBASE PLUS.

The reverse is not necessary true: a new .EXE will only be compatible
with on older PLUSRun.exe if it doesn't take advantage of the novelties
brought since then by dBASE.
