Over the last few days I've encountered some weird happenings on my eCS
2.0RC1 system:
1. xWorkPlace xCenter does not always display when I move the pointer to
the edge of the screen, even though at least one -- and sometimes two --
instances of xCenter are visible in the Window List. Right-clicking on
one of those instances then selecting Show usually makes it work again.
At the moment the xCenter is working fine even though no instance of it
shows in the Window List.
2. I've sometimes seen the Desktop restart of its own accord -- but not
while I was using the computer.
Not long ago I installed WPS Wizard. Could that be a factor?

Alan, I am not seeing this. Why don't you uninstall wps wizard and see
if this changes things.

Personally, I have used the CW multimedia classes for years on different
computers and never have had a problem. I hate to hear this. If you
ever have a personal version later than what will ever be released, I
would like to try it with the promise that I won't circulate it.

This is what people fail to do and I have been guilty of this myself in
the past. It seems lately that it is getting worse. This problem is
not happening only to your program. People report they have a problem,
but don't give any details such as operating system, WPS enhancers
installed, detailed descriptions, etc. Another thing that amazes me is
that they don't make archives like they should. With any WPS enhancer
install, I also make an archive. This has saved my butt many a time
after I installed eSchemes and my system started becoming unstable.

I think one of the problems is that people use so many WPS enhancers. I
use basically what eComStation provides with the exception that right
now, I am not using XWP until a new release comes out due to the ACPI
shutdown problem the present version has.
Most people like myself assumed that eCS betas would have the latest
Cairo. Being a process operator, I ought to know better than assume
anything. ex. eCS betas up to RC4 were being distributed with an early
version of Cairo (v1.24).
I have WPS Wizard now installed on two eCS betas RC2 and RC4 and it
works great. I see no degredation of the operating system at all. As I
mentioned in earlier posts to Chris, I am now hooked. So hooked that I
have switched my icon theme making from ithemes to WPS Wizard themes.
Thank you for your multimedia classes and WPS Wizard!!!

You aren't using eSchemes are you? The WPS restart is a problem I have
seen in the past with it. It always seems to happen when I opened the
templates folder. This is on numerous versions of eSchemes I have
tried. I don't know about eCenter/Xcenter since I have it always set to
stay visible on my systems.
Secondly, if you are using eSchemes, it is a now a known fact that both
presently can't co-exist together.

Everything can be a factor. Maybe the position of the moon on last
christmas is the cause of the problem, the size of my car, the color of
the shirt I'm currently wearing or whatever else...
Sigh, I'm soooo tired of this.
Years ago XWorkplace was the new kid on the block. *Every* misbehaviour of
OS/2 was blamed on it and people pissed at the author.
Then the CW multimedia classes came out and in the following *every*
hickup was blamed on them. No matter if it was a WPS problem, a graphics
problem or a network problem.
Now the CW multimedia classes are dead but a new release of WPS-wizard is
out. Because some people had problem with it now *every* problem is blamed
on that package no matter if it's WPS related or not.
People please start investigating a problem instead of shooting into the
dark. If there is a problem with package <insert name> file a *useful* bug
report and the problem will be taken care of.
Note that filing a bug report in the WPS-Wizard bugtracker *will not* help
fixing bugs in XWorkplace, eCS, eSchemes, <insert any random application>.
I'm not the author of these applications, I don't have the source and I
won't debug them for you.
