Beware eSchemes 1.46

Since radio, check, and text boxes no longer work, Warpin cannot be used
to uninstall.

Restoring an archive is not enough due to the fact that eSchemes
replaces estyler and other files.

I am now in the process of trying to manually replace the files eSchemes
installed with files from my other eCS partition.

It was apparently one of the estyler lite dlls that eschemes replaces.
Replacing with the original ones from my RC4 partition fixed the problem.

I then to boot the the partition and use Warpin to totally remove
eSchemes from my system.

Hi Andreas

I notified Eugene and asked him why any one of the runtimes is not a
requirement for installing eSchemes with Warpin. Warpin has this
capability.

I have eSchemes 1.46 installed with its runtimes and so far have only
found a few minor problems.

I replaced the estyler.exe with the one from the beta zone. Now when I
start eStyler Preferences, I get an error about not finding a certain dll.

In the eSchemes Palette, I find no themes to install. The pallette is
empty. Other than these two problems, everything else appears to be
working OK. I have to admit, I have tried a lot of the eScheme beta and
this last one is the most stable I have installed.

Deluxe is next.

There appears to be some kind of timing issue on startup. After the WPS
appears, one needs to do nothing for a few seconds. Otherwise the WPS
hangs.

As expected. Replacing original DLLs with ones of the same name is not
a good idea. But otherwise the rest of the eStyler package would have
been recompiled as well.

At least, an uninstall facility should be provided. (WarpIN can't
restore files to uninstall packages, but it could be done via it's
DEEXECUTE feature.)

Sorry, but making only making a WPS archive sounds quite dumb to me.

Good, that you've found it. That will probably help many others.

Thanks for the entire "self-test". I was afraid, that there are
problems, even if Yuri's announcement looks interesting. I know, that
he is one of those few OS/2 programmers who know WPS (and PM)
programming very well.

Maybe they have only ancient machines and also old eCS versions in
Russia (or where he cames from)?

(I haven't tested eSchemes myself yet. The project is a great idea,
but unfortunately created many problems. I would like to hear from
someone, who has got that beast working.)
