| Good USB v2.0 cards? |
 |

Hi!
Are there any good and not too expensive USB v2.0 cards that's also
compatible with eCs and WSeB and wont need special card-specific drivers
but can use the standard USB drivers found on ecomstation.com?

Just about ANY PCI USB card should work fine, as the USB H/W interface
is well defined and should work wih any of the eCS provided EHCI (USB
V2.0) drivers. Unless someone is making a card and using customized
USB Chips on it..
About 18 months ago i was using an older motherboard that had ZERO USB
ports, so I purchased a 6 port USB 2.0 PCI card fr it. The box stated
"Requires Windows 98SE/ME/2000/XP", however it worked fine on a
standard Warp 4 FP15 build. From memory it was less than NZ$30 , which
is around US$20.
I strongly recommend you get something like USBCFG from Hobbes and see
what USB Chipsets and devices it can find. It also helps you to set up
CONFIG.SYS correctly to handle ALL your USB devices.
Cheers...............pk.

So what do you think of the Belkin USB PCI cards? Both the netshow
www.dustin.se and www.microshop.se carry these at reasonable prices: the
Belkin USB 2.0 PCI 5 port (4 external + 1 internal USB port) which is
backwards compatible for USB 1.1 devices for around $36 incl. VAT or the
Belkin USB 2.0 3-port PCI card for around $30 incl. VAT. But in the
description it's stated that the card should be connected to a PCI 2.1
slot - what's that? My box is from 2000 so what level of PCI do you
think it has? The mobo is a Fujitsu-Siemens D1107

Either of the Belkin USB PCI cards should work - how many ports do you
think you need? are you likely to need an internal port?
I would expect the mainboard to have PCI V2.1 capable slots but you
should really doublecheck the specifications for the mainboard.

I have never seen one so I can't say sorry, however I would be
surprised if they didn't work fine.

Anything that works as USB V2 should also work with USB 1, as the spec
is backwards compatible.

No idea sorry.

To be safe I would stick with USB 2.0, however I would be surpised if
a PCI 2.1 card would not work in a PCI 2.0 slot.
