| Larger Hard Drive for T60 |

My T60 came with an 80GB SATA HD. I would like to replace it with
something larger, preferably >=320GB. Any recommendations on brand,
model, reliability, etc.? Of course, it has to operate under eCS and
occasionally XP.
What are your opinions on this one

Hard disk drives are probably 1 of the weakest bits of a system. No idea
if WD models are any better than any others...
If I was buying I would probably look at Samsung drives, possibly the
HM320JI, simply because I have not had any problems with 3 Samsung
SATA2 drives in use here, 1 of which has just scraped past it's 1st
birthday. Doubt if they will last as long as the 8 year old SCSI U160
drives they replaced though...
I would not expect your eCS system to have problems with a disk size
change - might be worth making sure that all disk related drivers are at
the current level though. Will Windows need any extra drivers? - doubt
it; you might want to check for any related driver updates though.
Will you be installing both systems fresh or using cloning/disk
image/xcopy to just copy existing installations to the new drive?
Regards
Pete

What version of eCS do you have running on the T60? Is everything
working? Could someone please write an article for VOICE on
installing eCS on a T6x successfully?

I expect I'll clone the XP and do a fresh install of RC4 unless RC5
comes out before I get the drive.
I have three Western Digital Passport "wallet size" drives, 160 250
and
320 GB. While I haven't dropped any, they haven't been particularly
babied and all are working well.
