Video card display parameters at boot

Video card display parameters at boot
Tue, 08 Apr 2008 04:25:43 GMT
I have swapped out my old Sony CPD-G520 21" CRT monitor in favor of a
Dell 2407WFP-HC LCD flat panel. The new display works best on a DVI
interface, but one of my systems won't boot using the DVI interface. I
get a message saying something like:

Signal out of range. re-configure for 1920 x 1200 at 60 Hz.

This seems to be hardware related rather than software because it
happens when the machine is trying to display the BIOS screens.

I am currently using an ATI Radeon 7200 video card with 32 MB ram. The
card provides both VGA and DVI interfaces, but only boots using the
VGA interface.

Any suggestions as to what ATI card(s) might boot at a resolution of
1920 x 1200 @ 60 Hz? What do I look for? I don't want to keep buying
video cards until I get one that works!

I wanted to use an ATI chipset for compatibility with the SNAP 3.1.8
and Panorama drivers. The Radeon 7200 is listed as being supported by
SNAP for flat panel displays.

The motherboard is an ASUS A7V133 with a VIA Apollo KT133A chipset and
an AGP 4X video slot, running an Athlon 900 MHz cpu.

Last year I got a
Sapphire Advantage Radeon X550
that works well and silently in 1600 x 1200 (no HZ specified)
with my flat panel, HP LP 2065.
It also worked with my CRT, which went kaput for some reason,
in 2048 x 1535 @ 60 Hz.

I have an Nvidia FX5500 OC 256mb AGP 4x card (VGA/SVIDEO) that I used to
use for eCS, its supported fine by both Panorama and SNAP and should be
able to drive your display to that resolution. Let me know if you'd like
it, its just sitting in its box right now :C

Yeah, its still available. Keep in mind however, its only S-Video and
VGA, there is no DVI port. Is this okay? If you'd like, you may email me
so we can continue our discussion further. I will provide you with a
link to my Ebay feedback page if you need references about me, or you
may look to the os2world community (I am Saijin_Naib). They mostly
tolerate me :P

Sorry, I have been out of town...
Yes, I am interested. Is it still available? If so, on what terms?

Thanks!
