Your laptop will require ACPI, and as such, you will need one of the eCS 2.x
betas. Do you have access to eCS Betazone to try one?

eCS demo cd hang during config.sys processing, eCS 1.2.1 GA installation CD
hang on the blue ball logo during boot :(
