SMP doesn't work on AMD64x2

I've perservered for almost two months, but it appears eCS simply won't
run on my AMD64x2 machine no matter what. I waited until the "next
release" of ACPI, but it offers no improvement at all. The machine won't
boot under SMP no matter what I try (OS2APIC, ACPI 2.0.4, etc.). I've
filled out support requests and tried to follow suggestions here and on
the "betazone" forums but all to no avail. My hardware is just dead
in
the water and I see no possibility of it ever working.

(I would have posted on the special ACPI forum, but I can't log on. The
path to access the paid support forum is so tortured and difficult that it
barely works under the best circumstances. Throw in a little network
trouble anywhere in the world and you can forget accessing it.)

I've read sporadic reports of others having success with OS/2 and the
AMD64x2. I'm glad someone got it working, somewhere. Maybe its related
to the chipset (nForce4) or something else, but my hardware simply won't
work.

I'm not clueless on OS/2. I've been a continuous user of OS/2 since
version 1.1. (The first time I used OS/2 was when I ported the StepStone
Objective-C complier to DOS using OS/2 as an intermediary.) I use it
every day at work, where we still build systems based on OS/2 and eCS.

This is just a warning for anyone considering upgrading their hardware to
AMD64x2 -- you may never get it to run SMP. I heard of one Via-based ASUS
board working, but stay away from nForce4 boards until you see someone
actually get one to work.

Is there a practical difference between "real SMP" and dual core? I
was
under the impression that they were functionally indistinguishable.

Two questions. Kernel level? 14.103a? AMD machine? A real SMP or a
dual core?
