Fallout problem from WPS-WIZARD

Fallout problem from WPS-WIZARD
Sat, 19 Jan 2008 22:46:30 GMT
WPS-wizard was damaging my system too badly, so I sort of removed it. I
used its uninstal. I deleted the folder and its contents. I erased the
directory and files. I used regedit2 to delete any reference from the
registry. I purged the trash can. I ran cleanini a million times. I ran
the unimaint repair function another million times.

 Checking PM_Objects:ClassTable
=================================================
Class CWAudioShadow in Module E:\MMOS2\MEDIAFLD\BIN\MEDIAFLD.DLL ( CANNOT
be loaded: SYS0087)

=================================================
 Checking PM_Workplace:Location
=================================================
<WPSWIZ_TUTORIAL> points to 2E00B - Object 2E00B - DOES NOT EXIST!
  DELETING PM_Workplace:Location:<WPSWIZ_TUTORIAL> from the profile
<WPSWIZ_MENU_DRIVES> points to 2E5D3 - Object 2E5D3 - DOES NOT EXIST!
  DELETING PM_Workplace:Location:<WPSWIZ_MENU_DRIVES> from the profile
<WP_OS/2-~WIND> points to 21E61 - Object 21E61 - DOES NOT EXIST!
  DELETING PM_Workplace:Location:<WP_OS/2-~WIND> from the profile
<WP_OS/2-~FULL> points to 259BA - Object 259BA - DOES NOT EXIST!
  DELETING PM_Workplace:Location:<WP_OS/2-~FULL> from the profile
<WP_D~OS-WINDO> points to 29CC0 - Object 29CC0 - DOES NOT EXIST!
  DELETING PM_Workplace:Location:<WP_D~OS-WINDO> from the profile
<WP_DOS-FULL~S> points to 2A77C - Object 2A77C - DOES NOT EXIST!
  DELETING PM_Workplace:Location:<WP_DOS-FULL~S> from the profile
=================================================

I can then press one key to acknowledge that this information has been
saved to the log, but the system will not respond to any other key or
mouse command except:
CTRL-ESC blames either the folder which holds checkini's program object
for not accepting system commands or blames ecenter. I have to CAD.

I had previously removed the wpswiz_tutorial and _menu_drives with
unimaint by editing os2.sys directly, but obviously checkini has found
some way to recreate them. Also, checkini has some crazy idea about the
command shells. Any ideas?

directory and files. I used regedit2 to delete any reference from the
registry. I purged the trash can. I ran cleanini a million times. I ran
the unimaint repair function another million times.

Now cleanini and unimaint report that the system is clean, but checkini
behaves strangely. It repeatedly gives these error messages:

 Checking PM_Objects:ClassTable

be loaded: SYS0087)

After reading the error messages I can then press one key to acknowledge
that this information has been saved to the log, but the system will not

I'd also suggest running xfix.

Do you have made a WPS backup before installing it? (It's mentioned in
the README or in something else. At least, I was warned about
installing it and especially about blaming the author.)

That all sounds as if restoring the previous desktop would be much
easier.

Well, Andreas, you didn't answer the question, but I guess you solved the
problem. I found a backup old enough made by a rarely invoked program,
moved myself over a week back in time, and now get clean reports from all
three of unimaint, checkini, and cleanini. Thanks.
