| Pronews/2 - can it be moved to another partition? |

Hi!
When I registered and installed Pronews/2 v1.59 cp120 it installed
itself on my c: WSeB volume, a situation I don't like at all.
Occasionally I hit upon a so serious bug/hang that I must resolve to a
reformat + restore from tape (latest FULL backup + all DIFFs done before
the crash). If I have used Pronews/2 *after* the latest DIFF, then the
changes in the msg database done after the DIFF would be gone forever
down the bit bucket. Pronews/2 is not listed in the LIBPATH, PATH,
DPATH, HELP or BOOKSHELF statements in config.sys: the only thing
related to Pronews/2 are a few SET variables that don't contain any
cat/file information. And in the Settings notebook there are only
relative paths stated in various places, for example in the Directories
tab there are three fields namely Article path, Decoded Path and Post
Queue path which contains "\ARTICLES", "\DECODED" and
"\POSTQ". I was
positively *glad* when I saw these relative paths instead of absolute
ones: moving the whole pronews/2 tree should be a snap and changing the
Pronews start icon should be equally easy.
So on the surface it should be easy to move the whole Pronews/2 shebang
to a non-boot drive, for example g: which is HPFS386 and can be seen by
all flavours of OS/2: WSeB, eCs 1.2 and ecs20rc4 with equal ease. Just
do a MOVE C:\PRONEWS G:\PRONEWS /S /E /V /H /T /R and modify the
Pronews/2 start icon to reflect the new startup path, i.e.
g:\pronews\pronews.exe.

I found it to be one of the easiest applications to move around. I
usually just copy the entire Pronews/2 directory, modify the program
properties, and go on my way. I then go back and delete the old
directory.
