RC3 Wont start phase 2

RC3 Wont start phase 2
Fri, 09 Nov 2007 21:25:04 -100
Several attempts to get rc3 to install have failed. Tried easy,
advanced, panorama, snap, BIOS settings: pnp enabled/disabled, acpi
enabled/disabled, USB legacy, etc. Tried them all, I think!

System hangs after SDD driver loads. config.sys seems to complete, but
something in startup.cmd fails to run.

Does any one have any suggestions?

System:
ASUS L1N64-SLI WS
Dual AMD Athlon 64 FX-74
4gb ram
ASUS NVidia G-Force 7300GT PCI-e

Not having a current SS I have not tried RC3 myself.

I seem to recall some posts about the amount of installed RAM that OS/2
based systems can install to and think that the posts indicated that 2Gb
was the max on some systems. Maybe you could pull 2Gb and try again.

Pete

Thank you for your replies. I managed to get RC3 to install by
disabling ACPI in the setup page of phase one. I was able to re-enable
ACPI after install completed via acpi wizard. I had no sub folders in
Programs and the other desktop objects until I rem'd acpi.psd and added
os2apic.psd. System runs ok however it will freeze solid if I try to do
various tasks. Main problem with freezing is Drag n Drop files across
drive/folder windows. Had the same freezing problems with rc2. I could
not get acpi to work at all with rc2. No problems with acpi on rc1, had
to borrow Nikk's nveth from rc2, however rc1 froze on D-n-D as well as

I had the same exact problem on my desktop, so much so I created a support
ticket with serenity. I changed nothing, but when I came back from china 2
months later and tried again (same install CD no less) it worked. To this
day, I have no idea. All I can say I guess is keep trying :\

What ACPI version was RC1? Maybe you can try to downgrade your ACPI to 2.22
or 2.23 (one of those) has been said to work best with the Asus SLI boards.
Im not sure why however.
