| rc3 smp and acpi working! |

My step father used to say "if at first you don't succeed, read the
manual." So I did. I found with in the ACPI documentation enough
information about the nvidia chip set to make the following changes.
Install SMP kernel
add /SMP /APIC /TMR switches to acpi.psd
add SMP to amouse.sys
check snoop.lst and remove acpisnp.snp
change com.sys to pscom.sys
SET NSPR_OS2_NO_HIRES_TIMER=1
My system is now stable enough to be a pleasure to work with. It still
freezes solid with EmperoarTV and seems to hang a moment when dragging
files at times. Otherwise I think I'm good to go!

Hi Pete,
Thus far I have an Epson USB scanner working with Tame, and an external
HD working as well. I have noticed that I dont get the shutdown
confirmation message. I'll try your suggestions as well.

You may also need the Crazy Device switch /CD if you want to play with
USB drives sccessfully
/R comes in handy if there are system shutdown problems - at least that
usually gets to Power Off successfully...
I'm using acpi v2.22 with an Force4 chipset so it is possible that later
acpi versions do not need these switches.
