| RC4 CD - no self test? |

ISTR in previous versions I attempted to install that I was never successful
until after using the CD's own built in self checking mechanism, but that was
too long ago to remember how it works. Now I don't see any way to do it. Is
it there? If so, how/where?

Forgot to mention, the CD boot never gets past unicode unable to load code
page errors (en_US).

It should come up after you exit the boot setup (or boot with the
default values).
Your quote is a little off. He is the reason (sort of like I AM).

My rc4 froze there once. Other times it froze elsewhere, but I don't know
whether before or after the code-page errors. Once it said it found no
valid driver in DOS.SYS. Once it complained that it couldn't load some
WORKSTA.
Rc3 installed on the same machine a week earlier without difficulties.
Yes, I verified the md5's and burned the ISO at a 1x speed.

Problem solved by making two changes. First, I used the other CD I had
burned. Second, I put it in the RW drive instead of in the faster
read-only drive. Unknown which change mattered.
