| RC4 Install fails |

I downloaded the RC4 diff, applied it to the RC3 iso, tested the MD5sum.
Burned the CD. Tested the individual file MD5sum. Great..
The CD boots fine, and I was able to make all the normal installation
selections. However, phase 1 of the install fails quite quickly. LCU.LOG
has this:
[Mon Dec 31 [Mon Dec 31 16:21:06] DIAGINFO install is starting.
[Mon Dec 31 16:21:09] DIAGINFO install was successful.
[Mon Dec 31 16:21:09] SEINST install is starting.
[Mon Dec 31 16:21:12] Product Returned 0x1604, Unexpected condition.
[Mon Dec 31 16:21:12] SEINST install failed.
This is attempting to install to my Thinkpad T40, which has a working 1.2
install and has successfully installed all the 2.0 betas/RCs.
Any suggestions as to tracking the problem?

I'd download the full RC4 ISO and burn that. Something about the whole
diff process strikes me as not being too reliable, though I have no
personal experience with it.
Can you fully reformat the disc and clear all LVM info and the boot sector
using DFSEE? Sometimes the install will fail with weird errors if some
left-over LVM info is present.

Well, I've used it a few times without problems, though I do tend to test
both the diff and the final iso more thoroughly than I might if I
downloaded a full iso.

I seem to have the problem fixed, though I'm not at all sure why. The
first time I attempted the install, I used a USB hard drive to hold the
licence key and failed to eject it before the install started. The second
time, I ejected the external drive before the install began. Seems to have
fixed the problem, since the install went through without problems after
that. Strange...

Yeah, strange is one word for it. I wonder what caused the issue?
In any case, glad you got it to succeed :)
