| Hard Drive giving me fits with eComstation 1.0 installation |

I am trying to boot CD 1 of eComstation 1.0 and when I select default
installation, I get the OS/2 version of the BSOD and it makes me restart.
The message is that it can't operate the hard drive.
The hard drive is a 120GB Maxtor. I really don't want to have to boot
from floppy as it doesn't look like my floppy drive is working.
I do have UP and links to download 1.1, but do I use the same registration
key?

Is that IDE or SATA?
If IDE then you may need to use the CD pre boot menu to select the
Danis506.add driver and it may need to be used in Compatibility mode.
If SATA then you probably need to download all the eCS IDE updates plus
the current version of Danis506.add but I think you wold also need a
working floppy drive.

You could give it a try.

Running CHKDSK /F fixed the problem last time I got the "unable to
operate you hard disk".

First, I found out I had a bad memory module (it failed the POST) and I
took it out and booted Win2K to run the chkdsk /f.
It passed and I rebooted into the installation program and got the same
error as before. I can't tell if it's SATA or not, and I can't remember
now what it was when I bought the hard drive. The error screen references
UDMA2 and PIO mode 4, if that makes a difference.
I couldn't see where to load any different drivers or run in Compatibility
mode from the advanced options menu.

You have to create the installation partition with eCS, and when that is
done don't let W2K touch it at all.
When booting from the CD you'll get to a point where it will show you
possible installable partitions. If none are listed you have to use the
option for creating a new one. Also you need to make one for the
bootmanager.
If eCS cannot access the disk I suggest you use DFSEE.
http://www.dfsee.com/dfsee/
(Make backups of partitions tables, run it in read only mode and read
the docs for how to fix errors it might display. Licensed users also
get very good support from the author.)
