| eCS 2.0 RC3 does not recognize hard drives |

Hello All;
I am trying to install the newest RC of eComStation, but cannot get
past the error, "eComStation is unable to operate your hard disk".
I have tried changing the drivers in the custom install menu but still
no luck. I have added the verbose switch and the Dani drivers see the
hard drives, but I still get the message.
This is the first time I have had this kind of problem since switching
from OS/2 Warp to eCS.
Is anyone else having this kind of problem?

The good thing: unlike Windows and Linux ecS and OS/2 do not install on
a partition table that the OS/2 fdisk or the LVM do not fully
understand. This refusal to go on prevents damage to existing partitions.
Maybe you have a by MS (or modern = MS kind of PMMagic) made FAT32X or
NTFS X partition that has (non-existing) sector entrances in the
partition tables beyond the physical hard disk boundaries.
The MS fdisk and formatters "resolved" this master boot record error
by
labeling the not existing sectors as not available (;-(. But other
fdisks had problems with the solution of MS.
What can you do? Analyze your partitions with dfsee (www.dfsee.com). Ask
Jan van Wijk to have a look at it. Dfsee is the only tool I know that
can stop MS OEM war via the corrupted boot disk (ie MS only partition
tables).

Hello Sjoerd;
Thanks for the quick reply, but I don't think that is my problem,
because I can install using RC1 and RC2 only RC3 produces this error. I
wonder what has changed?

To be honest, then I have no idea. Because you also tried several
drivers. You do not have also a removable (usb)disk attached, maybe
confusing lvm?

Hello All;
I solved my install problems. Stupid on my part, I installed another
partition a couple of months ago and gave it a Z: for a drive letter.
The eCS installer chokes unless you reset the virtual drive to something
other than what is already installed in your system. I reset it to Y:
and everything went fine.
The Network setup is getting easier and worked right from the install
without any tinkering.
Will have to make a backup of a working system and then see how a
Migration Install goes.
