I have just successfully installed rc3 on my computer. This is
the first of the 2.0 betas that I have been able to install.
I'm not sure if it's relevant, but it's also the first time I
have elected not to install the new ACPI.
However, with the new installation I have no internet connection.
I'm pretty sure it's related to this message I saw at bootup right
after the GenMac Wrapper installed:
NO HARDWARE DATA FOUND IN PROTOCOL.INI
I'm not sure if that's the precise wording, but it's close. Does
anyone have any idea how to resolve this?

That fixed it! Thanks Helmut.
I am now posting this from my RC3 installation. One thing though is
apparent: it is going to take me quite a while to migrate everything
from my eCS 1.2 installation. I just hope I can remember how to do a
lot of it.

Has anyone tried UniMaint?
"UniMaint is an OS/2 utility to backup and restore your desktop,"
They claim that it can backup and restore the desktop even to another
system. I haven't tried it myself.
I try to keep all my apps on a partition distinct from the OS so going
from version to version usually only requires me to create the desktop
objects.

No, but the Object Packager in Object Desktop V2 does a fairly good job.
I use it to create a Backup of the Desktop, run a "clean" install,
install any extra drivers required, update any eCS installed drivers
that are not up to date, install Object Desktop + updates, Reboot and
open the above Desktop Backup and drag all the required bits to the new
Desktop - my Apps do not live on the boot drive which makes this fairly
easy.
Vola! a Migrated system :-)
The only thing the above process chokes on is the setup associations for
PMView2000 V2.32 - and I seem to recall Lotus SM did not work using the
above method.
Most Apps I have do work fine though, especially those that keep their
configuration data either within the application directory tree or in
the %HOME% directory - providing %HOME% is not on the boot drive.
