| ECS 2.0 rc3 Install hangs in phase 2 |

I've installed all the ECS 2.0 betas and rc 1 & 2 without problems (aside
from a 2GB memory problem for which I have an outstanding ticket). When I
try to install rc3 it hangs during the reboot from hard drive (phase 2)
with the message that it's loading KBDBASE.SYS. I really have no idea
where to go with this problem, any suggestions?

Is it a USB keyboard? Is legacy USB Support turned off in BIOS?
Only things I can think of :C

It could be an ACPI problem. Default switches for acpi.psd are /SMP and
/APIC. Go to maintenance desktop after phase 1 and edit line
basedev=acpi.psd to have no switces.

Thank you very much! It is as you said, an ACPI problem. I followed your
advice and removed the /SMP & /APIC switches from the PSD=ACPI.PSD entry
in config.sys then the install completed with no problems.
Thanks again.....Mike.

I have exactly that same problem. It happened to me also with RC2, and I
was hoping RC3 would cure it, but no such luck. It is definitely
something with ACPI. When I rem out PSD=acpi.psd then it gets past the
kbdbase.sys hang, but stops later on with the message that o2/s cannot
operate the hard drive. I don't know yet what the solution is, I'm hoping
that the right combination of switches will do something. Incidentally,
this is happening on a ACER Aspire 3100 laptop.
