What are the latest DANI* Driver sets?

What are the latest DANI* Driver sets?
Wed, 02 Jan 2008 11:28:47 -050
I am confused! When I look at all the download files I have for the
Dani-Drivers, I see:
	DaniS506 ADD 73574 8-09-07 12:01p
	DaniATAPI.FLT 25421 7-31-07 10:00p
BUT, when I look at what I have in \OS2\BOOT, I see:
	DANIATAP.FLT 25421 8-13-07 11:02a
	DANIS506.ADD 73740 8-24-07 4:42p

The files listed in the download directory [top set] supposedly are the
latest levels [1.8.1 and 0.4.0 respectively]. But, if that is the case,
where did the ones listed in the \OS2\BOOT directory come from? I have
looked and cannot find a clue about where I got them!

One reason for this question is that at one point in time, I was able to
use the RSJ COPY Wizard to copy a CD. Now it does not work on my eCS
2.0 system. But, if I go back two levels of RSJ and several levels of
Dani*, the COPY works just fine.

Where did these files come from?
Should I just back-level to the ones in the downloaded ZIPs?

Help! I think I'm losing it!

TIA,

The best way to check which driver version is in use in \os2\boot is
BLDLEVEL ie:-

[H:\OS2\BOOT]bldlevel danis506.add
Build Level Display Facility Version 6.12.675 Sep 25 2001
(C) Copyright IBM Corporation 1993-2001
Signature: @#DANI:1.8#@##1## 9.8.2007 18:23:01

Build Machine: NACHTIGALL
File Version: 1.8.1

[H:\OS2\BOOT]bldlevel daniatapi.flt (*this could be shortened to
daniatap.flt*)
Build Level Display Facility Version 6.12.675 Sep 25 2001

Build Machine: NACHTIGALL
File Version: 0.4
Description: Filter Driver for ATAPI devices

DIR results:-

9-08-07 5:01p 73,574 226 a--- DaniS506.ADD
1-08-07 3:00a 25,421 227 a--- DaniATAPI.FLT

Looks like you have an older danis506.add in \os2\boot with newer date
so that should be your 1st bldlevel check.

I should have thought of that, but the mystery continues, because my
Bldlevel for DANIS506.ADD is not the same as yours:

[O:\os2\boot]bldlevel danis506.add
Build Level Display Facility Version 6.12.675 Sep 25 2001
(C) Copyright IBM Corporation 1993-2001
Signature: @#DANI:1.8#@##1## 11.8.2007 19:11:32
Nachtigall:
:::1a::@@ Adapter Driver for PATA/SATA DASD
Vendor: DANI
Revision: 1.08
Date/Time: 11.8.2007 19:11:32
Build Machine: Nachtigall
File Version: 1.8.1
Description: Adapter Driver for PATA/SATA DASD

Directory of O:\os2\boot
  8-24-07 4:42p 73,740 208 a--- DANIS506.ADD

Your BldLevel date/time at least have the same date as the DIR date.
Mine don't. The size of yours and mine are different. But, both have
the same 'File Version: 1.8.1'

My BldLevel for the DaniATAPI.FLT is the same as yours, even though the
directory listing shows a different date/time:
  8-13-07 11:02a 25,421 0 a--- DANIATAP.FLT

How is one supposed to know what is what?

Thanks for the response.
Carl

I have a fairly fresh installation of eCS 1.2 GA and probably after
using eCSMT had lost my CD-Writer (I have also CDROM-drive).
I installed RSJ on top of existing installation. After rebooting
thr CD-writer was back, though icon was wrong, but it was easy
to correct.

Both of DANIS506.ADD can be found from my system, 8-24-07 version
is in eCS 2.0 RC4 and 8-09-07 version in eCS 1.2 GA.

I hope this helps..

I downloaded and installed 181 on the date that it was released on
hobbes/incoming; I guess that it was released very shortly after build.

The DIR date is the date that the file is written to the directory not
the date the file was created/built so those dates are particular to the
system they are installed on.

I have no idea where you have got your version of 181 from; the versions
available from hobbes and eCS both seem to be the version I have installed.

Did you find a test version somewhere?

Maybe you want to try reverting to what seems to be the "standard"
version to see if that cures any problems...
