eCS 2.0 RC4 Xeon Quad-Core System Build

eCS 2.0 RC4 Xeon Quad-Core System Build
Wed, 20 Feb 2008 19:46:45 GMT
Hello,

I am attempting to install eCS 2.0 RC4 on an Intel Xeon Quad-Core based
[Socket 771] system using a Supermicro X7DWA-N system board.

Supermicro X7DWA-N Product site:
http://www.supermicro.com/products/motherboard/Xeon1333/5400/X7DWA-N.cfm

I am having problems getting eCS 2.0 to see\detect the 400Gb SATA 3.0 Gb/s
drive that is plugged into one of the Supermicro on-board SATA 3.0 Gb/s
connections. The Supermicro system board I am using has an onboard Intel
ESB2 SATA 3.0Gbps controller.

My previous system (an Intel Xeon based [Socket 603] system using an ASUS
PC-DL Deluxe system board which burned out due to a power supply issue)
had an onboard Promise SATA 1.5 Gb/s connections. In order to get the
drive recognized via the Promise SATA 3.0 Gb/s controller that I purchased
and installed, a "BOOT_UPD.txt" file was created and copied on to a
floppy
along with the "Dani" drivers. These drivers were read in during the
initial setup software load sequence on the eCS 1.2R install CD.

Does the current Dani* driver support the abovementioned Intel SATA
controller?

Can this process be done on the install CD\DVD media so I will not have to
deal with the floppy drive at all?

Please let me know.

You'll have to look in the DANI driver documentation, there is a list of
supported controllers. If is not mentioned, you may want to contact
Daniela Engert. That's how I made it when the ATI SB600 Chip wasn't
supported. It took about a week, then I had test drivers and a bit later
working drivers. Now this controller is supported by official DANI drivers.

I found no way to make an eCS CD bootable, so I can't help you with this.

Try newest bootAble with ConfigMaker. I found it easy by separating
iso creation and burning:
1. Create Iso with bootAble
2. Burn Iso the way you are used to
